Next up in our interview series is Ahmad Sabra:
this is Julie
please introduce yourself. what is “your style” of photography? My name is Ahmad Sabra, I dont have a particular style as such but i enjoy shooting portrait and street photography. I started with landscape photography but I felt that the photos I took lacked depth and meaning…
how long have you been shooting film? I first shot film in Highschool (late 90′s) then started again in 2008 shortly after I bought my first DSLR.
do you prefer colour or black & white? do you have a favourite film or camera? The first photos i ever took were in b&w. With b&w I have more control since I develop and print the shots at home. Favourite camera has to be my EOS 3, great for street, portrait or landscapes. I really like Velvia for landscapes. I would like to experiment with different colour film soon.
Pinnacles
Show us one of your favourite shots and tell us a bit about it – how did you take it and is there a story behind it? This has to be my favourite shot. Taken with a Holga pin hole camera 120WPC f133, this was my first frame with the Holga. Had to guess the exposure but I like it.

show us a favourite shot from the MSM pool. What do you enjoy in other peoples’ photos? everything is great about this photo, the body language is interesting to me. I like seeing emotions in other people’s photos, shots that make me think…
Your house is on fire. You only have one camera. It’s rare, expensive, uninsured, and it’s the only camera you’ve ever enjoyed shooting with. You have time to save either it or all your negatives. Save the camera and you lose irreplaceable images, save the negatives and you may never be happy taking photos again. Which do you choose, and why? hmmmm I’ll go for the negatives I guess. I lost some negatives recently and im still not over it!!

Give us a question to ask the next person. My question is: How much money have you spent on film so far this year?
Thanks for your time, Ahmad! You can find him on flickr as Sabra_, and will be able to see his work up on the wall in August as part of UNSENSORED09.
